Broadway ticket sales exceed more than $1 billion for the 2009-10 season
Billy Elliot, Wicket, Promises Promises, and Jersey Boys among the top Broadway ticket sales for the 09-10 season. Whiles sales were off slightly, the industry still considers these sales strong and healthy.

The Broadway League released its 2009-10 end-of-season statistics and for the season that began May 25, 2009 and ended May 24, the League reports the Gross Gross as $1.02 billion dollars, up from the 2008-09 season at $1 billion. Conversely, this season saw 11.89 million attendees, down 3.0 percent from last season’s 12.25 million. There were 39 shows that opened this season, of which 11 were new musicals, 14 were new plays, six were musical revivals and eight were revivals of plays…
