Ticket Counterfeiter Busted Thanks To Photo
Mari Alfaro, was escorted off the premises of a Phoenix Coyotes playoff game after buying counterfeit tickets from an individual she contacted on Craigslist.com. Mrs. Alfaro, not entirely confident of the $200 transaction, smartly decided to snap a quick photo of the scalpers license plate. This move, and following her intuition, proved valuable as authorities were able to track the alleged counterfeiter.
In a previous purchase via Craigslist.com, Alfaro reported she had no issues, but on this occasion she told
KTVK News “He tried to tell me his girlfriend won the tickets in a contest and was trying to push how real these tickets were.” Lesson learned and perhaps others will take this lesson to heart.
Just about anyone, these days, can print a ticket that looks as real as most authentic tickets, not to mention any print-at-home ticket can be printed multiple times and sold, but only used once. As it should be with any purchase a consumer makes, buy from credible sources. If the industry standard is to offer a guarantee or warranty, why settle for less? If you’re going to take a chance, do as Mari Alfaro did, and only buy if you have some form of recourse. Mario Cox, the alleged counterfeiter, will be prosecuted as a result of Mrs. Alfaro’s actions.
